Used shewing gum is sticky and difficult to clean.
A hardening-after-use shewing gum would soften when it gets in contact with saliva, i.e. in the mouth, and harden after the contact with saliva has been discontinued.
Technically, the new shewing gum would react with some typical saliva ingredients for softening and harden after the reaction is discontinued.
Shewing gum is prohibited by law in Singapore because it's difficult to clean. And Singapore wishes to keep the reputaion of a cleanest city in the world.
A hardening-after-use shewing gum will eliminate the cleaning problem. The Singapore law will change accordningly, and Singaporeans will be able to enjoy shewing gums!
